The base legs are hollow tin and connected by a couple tiny screws you put in. This a lower quality table (think IKEA) with a nice, minimal design, which is very good for smaller rooms. This table would be good for a young couple starting out with first home or apartment. This is not a table you keep long term. If you want a substantial table spend the money to get one. This is a cheap table (made in China) with a nice design. I would only recommended this to a friend who needed a budget table.
