I have this in my morning room and it's pretty nice there. I wouldn't consider this a formal piece. The wood seems to be a decent quality. The finish is nice. The hardware for assembly is soft metal. You have to be very careful not to round out the metal. I used soap on the wood screws so I could use a little less pressure. Unless you are very skilled, this is a two person assembly project. I would buy this again, but the hardware kept me from giving it 5 stars for perfection. It's turned out to be a pretty sturdy piece of furniture.
I was hesitant to order furniture off the internet but this was an overall great experience. The piece was packed incredibly well. The boxes would have been able to take some abuse before anything was damaged. I'll be coming back for future purchases.
